Question: What would be the least expensive lodgings for an overnight stay on a road trip?

Answer #1:

You're going to have to face the fact that we are now living in the 21st Century. I don't think even motel rates have been $30 a night since the 1960's. Unless you plan on sleeping in the back of your car, expect to spend a minimum of $75 to $100 a night even for a minimal amenity B&B. If you plan on travel, you are going to need a credit card - no way around that. Unless you adapt to modern travel requirements, you might as well stay home.

Answer #2:

If you find a motel for 30 bucks a night you WILL have to share it with the earwigs and bedbugs. Even a campsite at a KOA will cost you 30 bucks.
