GAS PRICES

On Friday, September 2, 2005, the price of regular unleaded was $3.29 a gallon in Armada Michigan, almost 1,000 miles from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Amazing price jump from a week ago! Is this price gouging? Oil companies taking advantage of a national disaster? I want you to sound off on this topic. Have you cut down on your trips or combined trips? Have you topped off your tank? During the past couple of morning bike rides (past rush hour), it felt like there were a few less cars on the road but I'm not sure. Are people driving less? The way I've read is that the oil companies use complicated formulas to set the prices. One of the factors which is taking precedent during this crisis is the amount of time it will take for the next gas truck will arrive to restock the gas station. Less gas available equals greater number of days between shipments. They figure $3.29 a gallon will cause people to conserve more fuel. Is that true? ADD YOUR GRIPE OR THOUGHTS BELOW
