Gas Prices crippling the city of Charlotte

"Gas prices said to reach $4.00 soon in NC" By: Dianna Augustine As of today more than thirty gas stations have been shut down due to empty barrels. That is right our reserves for NC are low, "They have not been replenished since Sunday" said many local sources, one being the Mayor. Though us as the people are not meant to panic , nor are we suppose to line up to get gas that is said to be running out. Driving my SUV is always a pain but more so when I know it's going to be $40 for a full tank of gas or more. Money that I don't have because I spent that much sitting in line trying to get gas because I truly needed it, not that I was in a panic. Already they are calling it a new depression break and I cannot discount the claims. We have been urged to travel as little as possible, to rethink our Labor Day Weekend travel excursions. They are asking that people use public transit as a means of transportation at all possible. While we have also been asked to not line up in hoards to get gas, that is all that is happening. Line after line, honking horns, police stationed at each gas supplying spot to avoid any altercations that are happening anyway. Today the lines at the bus stops were longer than I've ever seen in my entire time living in Charlotte. It's an uneasy day , people are even driving slower to conserve gas on the road. The little amount of people that are actually driving. Empty roads, aside from the gas station turning lanes, as I traveled also spoke in leaps and bound. This is also after many "in the knows" have exclaimed the down time from Hurricane Katrina should not have trickled down price wise for a full month, but due to how they run things now, ec(g)omanical pocket books, we are seeing prices soar from $2.01 to the height out in Lincoln county of $3.99 per gallon and expected to keep rising for the next six months and the level back off at $2.50 a gallon. Gee thanks for thinking of the little ones on that Mr. President, $2.50 people, you'd think we hit the jackpot!
