It only gets worse from here. Lukoil of course is one the worse greedy gougers of the Big Oil Companies. But don't assume the Gas Station is making much money off the high price gas. This is why most of them have to pursue other lines of business like providing a convenience store or an Auto Maintenance facility. Apparently the National Average Gas price is now at $4 a gallon. gothamist.com/2008/06/08/gas_prices_cont.php In New York City it's time to increase funding for Mass Transit for sure yet I think there should be a National Increase in Mass Transit funding. I don't care if some will say the Car Is King in rural and suburban areas. Big Auto has been rumored for years to promote itself at the expense of Public Transportation. How long can it last, this drive towards conservation? I do remember the "Energy Crisis" of the early 1970's with its long gas lines and higher emphasis on fuel economy that appeared in automakers advertising. I'm hearing and seeing that again in their marketing but sad to say I think it'll take a bigger squeeze on drivers wallets, say 7 dollars a gallon before they start to see the red light ahead and a push is made for sensible, affordable and sustainable means of transportation.
